Rose Glow

Rose Glow is part of the same series of round rose paintings as Pearl, and the two were sold together to the same collector in 2023, along with a third piece.

What I love about painting roses in this format is how the circle holds the bloom, almost like a frame that was made specifically for it. Rose Glow leans into a warmer palette than some of the others in the series, with soft blush and peach tones gathering at the centre and gradually cooling out towards the edges of the petals.

The detail in the inner petals, still tightly curled while the outer petals have opened fully, was something I paid particular attention to. That contrast between the closed, protected centre and the more relaxed, open outer layers gives the flower a real sense of having just bloomed.
