Blackjack Agapanthus

This beautiful flower that I photographed in my garden has the most beautiful deep purple colour and the yellow details was such a beautiful contrast it asked to be painted. This strong South African flower is always a favourite of mine to paint not just because of colour, but also because of the shape and delicacy of the petals. I tried adding a more abstract background which I think worked well.
